The Gelato Addiction

To my biggest fan and the president of lamiafestaromana fanclub, my room mate, Jamie:

This post is short but sweet!  Here's a list of the best gelato places in Rome and why we love them:

Giolitti's:
This place is the best and it's not too expensive either.  The portions are generous and the gelato is extra creamy!  Don't be intimidated by the crowds; you may have to fight your way to the counter but it's always worth it.  Favorite flavors: nochiola and chiocolatta

Old Bridge Gelato:
Located near the Vatican, this place is small but so so good and super cheap!  Ask for panna (cream) for maximum enjoyment.

Frigidarium:
Close to the Pantheon, this "Italian Dariy Queen" gets points for its location, flavors, and complimentary chocolate dipping and cookie. Try the Frigidarium flavor!

San Crispino:
At the Pantheon, this place became famous after being featured in Elizabeth Gilbert's popular book, "Eat, Pray, Love".  Despite its claim to fame, it is a tad overpriced and is the only place in Rome where you can't get three flavors in a small.

Flavor Guide:
amarena: sour cherry
niochiola: hazelnut
riso: rice pudding
zambione: eggnog (not pumpkin)
coco: coconut
lampone: raspberry
fior di latte: sweet cream
frutti di bosci: mixed berry
zuppa inglese: english trifle/ toffee
strachiatella: basically chocolate chip
cannella: cinamon
